Product Acquisition Manager - Hampton West (Calabasas, CA)

We are currently recruiting for a Product Acquisition Manager, who will primarily be responsible for aligning with the Executive Team in various levels of the new product acquisition process. This includes identifying, cultivating, and funneling all potential product/concepts for evaluation. Will lead/ co lead the product review meetings, and track the evaluation requirement for multi-channel distribution.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Scout for innovative items to be sold thru Direct Response, Retail, Catalog and Home Shopping.

  • Act as Liaison with inventors, inventor service providers, licensing agents, brokers, etc.

  • Attend meetings and conference calls with outside inventors, invention brokers, product developers, etc presenting product ideas to HD in person and via video conferencing.

  • Research Invention Tradeshows worldwide, inventor clubs/activities, and opportunities to participate in Inventor Education related functions and/or Product Searches evaluating the overall benefits of participating in industry events.

  • Evaluate opportunities and coordinate efforts with Inventor Community groups to participate in product searches and inventor education seminars.

     

Responsibilities Relating to Product Submissions

 

  • Able to understand market trends and streamline the initial review of product submissions to evaluate which products will be presented at weekly Product Evaluation Meetings.

  • Conduct and draft initial market research of invention submissions in order to screen out non-relevant product inventions and complete competitive landscape market evaluations of products to be presented at weekly Product Evaluation Meetings.

     

Responsibilities Relating to Social Media Marketing

 

  • Create and manage the Inventors Connection pages on the website working with the web designer to implement additions and edits to streamline the product submission process while protecting HD’s interests and liability.

  • Manage new product social media efforts on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook connecting with inventors, invention companies, product developers, licensing agents, DRTV marketers,

  • Stay connected with invention companies/ inventor service providers as well as make new connections in order to increase monthly submissions.

     

 Responsibilities Relating to Managing the Inventions Department

  • Manage Inventor Relations Coordinator who provides administrative assistance in the Inventions Department.
  • Manage the Invention Departments Budget including approval of expenses.

  • Prepare Monthly expense reports and review monthly financial results with the Financial Controller.

 

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required or 3-4 years relevant experience. 

 

  • Preferably, a strong understanding of direct to consumer industry, the products or services that appeal to Direct Response consumers and the know-how to build loyalty.  Ability to converse comfortably with inventors and their licensing agents, knowledge of contract terms.
